Rude, Nasty, Stupid Bosses

At 5 p.m. they invade your space give you work to do.
They don't remember how to spell your name, but they expect you to remember theirs.
They think lunch is the time to get free labor out of you.
After you show them how to do something, they come back and tell you how to do it.
If you take your break, they ask you where you went and what you were doing.
You can't call the dentist to make an appointment, but they can go play golf all day on company time.
They have bad breath, they reek of cigarrette smoke, and they lean over you so you can't escape the fumes.

Why were these people born, let alone allowed to dominate the Earth?

My supervisor is psycho and eight people are complaining about her. I endured for nine months. Said nothing. Then she snapped. In a meeting I brought up the fact that this is not professional. Next day she couldn't explain how the quality control process works. When, in a later meeting, several coworkers commented negatively about my supervisor, I agreed that she seemed to be there just to collect a pay check. Next day sup's boss called me in and came at me like a wrecking ball. I was transferred and given the night shift, although I was promised the same work schedule. When I complained, the supervisor said she was putting this on my record. I told her that is fine by me but I will respond according to company policy and put something in her record. She blinks and says okay. Now, I am a trouble maker and a bad employee after nine months of excellent service. - Sick of Politics

Dear Sick of Politics: You could find another job, but when a supervisor puts something negative in your file, she jeopardizes your ability to move on. Document everything, including dates and exact time. Write down exactly what she says and when. Can you document cases where her incompetence impacted other employees? See if your coworkers are willing to talk. Your supervisor has some kind of "in" with the bosses. Whatever it is, you obviously can't trust them to make the rational decision and fire her instead of you. Talk to the Department of Labor at (800) 475-4020. Do look for another job. And if your supervisor or boss asks you to sign documents reporting your "bad" behavior, don't sign without filing a protest that you dispute their report.

My new supervisor is does not know enough to do his job. He is less educated than I am and makes mistakes that I have to clean up. Plus, he's very abrasive. Even the people in the office who don't report to him dislike him. How do I keep him from making my life miserable? -Fed up

Dear Fed up: My advice is not to clean up his mistakes. If he asks you to correct his work, find something else more pressing to do or recommend that he consult with someone else. If these things don't work, be polite, but tell him that he is in charge and therefore he has the final say. Keep telling him this. Maybe this will dissuade him from blaming you for his mistakes. As far as his abrasiveness is concerned, you can hope he is as abrasive to someone above him and gets canned.

Do you have a rude, nasty, or stupid boss? Maybe he's all three.
