Pest Control RipoffThere are unscrupulous companies out there that have no problem taking your money for nothing. And pest control companies are no different. An example of such cheating happened to Miss Attitude. Miss Attitude has no scientific proof, but personal experiences count. Miss Attitude hired a (supposedly reputable) national pest control company to come and spray inside and outside the house once a month. The monthly service was approximately $30. At first the service was great. There was a definite decrease in spiders and bugs, as well as a decrease in ant invasions. But, about eight months into the service, there were problems. Ants and spiders were surfacing more frequently. When the service first started, the interior was sprayed. Usually that was done in the morning, while the house was uninhabited. This allowed the air in the house to dissipate. But there was still a distinct, strong odor in the evening; windows had to be opened to clear the air. Again, eight months into the service that all changed. The unpleasant, familiar smell was not there any more. Did they change the formula of the pesticide? Miss Attitude asked this question, but the answer was that there was no change in pesticide. This can only lead to the conclusion that the pest control company was not actually spraying at all. The monthly service is supposed to keep pests away. Problems with the "pests" had definitely increased. What else was Miss Attitude supposed to think? Miss Attitude cancelled the service, but not without a fight. The company did not want a cancellation of service. Miss Attitude told the pest controllers that their service was not up to acceptable standards. It was quite amazing, how the company literally tried to bully Miss Attitude into continuing to pay for "pretend" service. The supervisor even got on the phone to argue. That alone indicates that the "service" needed to be discontinued. Miss Attitude won that small battle, but not before incurring some wounds. So, this is just a word of warning: watch out for yourself. You never know when the next ripoff is lurking around the corner. |
